About the General Tax Authority

Our vision, mission, structure and digital transformation journey.

Vision

A fair, transparent, digital tax administration that serves the taxpayer and protects state revenue.

Mission

Apply tax law efficiently, simplify procedures and complete the shift from paper to electronic service.

Values

Integrity, fairness, transparency, efficiency, and respectful taxpayer service.

The General Tax Authority is part of the Iraqi Ministry of Finance. It assesses and collects income, property and real-estate gains taxes under the laws in force, through its headquarters in Baghdad and its offices and branches across the governorates.

The Electronic Computing Section leads the authority's digital transformation, building an integrated set of electronic systems covering the whole taxpayer life-cycle: registration, declaration, assessment, invoicing, payment, compliance and risk management.
